Executive Director

I’m an educator, researcher, and lifelong learner who believes that schools have the power to change lives and strengthen communities. Education has always been a part of my life. Growing up in a family of educators, I saw firsthand the impact that great teachers and leaders can have on young people. That experience inspired me to dedicate my career to creating schools where students are challenged, supported, and prepared for whatever path they choose. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a teacher, instructional coach, principal, chief academic officer, consultant, and college faculty member. Each experience has reinforced my belief that leadership begins with listening, is sustained through trust, and succeeds by investing in people. I believe the answers are often already in the room, and my role as a leader is to help bring out the best in others while creating the conditions for students and educators to thrive. I hold a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, a Master of Business Administration, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies, a Master of Science in Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering. My doctoral research focused on teacher retention and organizational culture, reflecting my passion for developing strong schools and supporting the people who make them successful. I also serve as Lab Faculty at College Unbound, where I have the privilege of working alongside adult learners as they pursue their educational and professional goals. Outside of my professional life, I’m a brother to six sisters, a husband, and the proud father of two young daughters. My wife, Courtney, is also an educator, and together we are intentional about raising our family with a love of learning and service. Being a parent has strengthened my commitment to creating schools that I would be proud to send my own children to. As I begin this next chapter at Charette High School, I’m excited to get to know the students, families, staff, and alumni. I look forward to listening, learning, building strong relationships, and working together to build on Charette's strong foundation so that every student has the opportunity to learn, lead, and succeed. Best, Dr. Donavan Tracey
